A Flower Upon Your Grave
I will grow powerful, strong, and brave
I will shine bright yellow in the morning sun
I will fold my petals in, when the day is done
and be the flower upon your tomb
I will grow wild in glare and gloom
I will shine in moonlight
I will dance in the fall
Some days, I promise
I won't miss you–
at all
But other days won't be as good
I will cry for you, like a good daughter should
I will dream I am with you and you're holding my hand
Walking with me across this glorious land
And when rain sheets across open grass
when my soul turns from fire to glass
I will be a little flower that will last and last and last
I am the flower upon your resting place
Baby born; woman's grace.
Will we ever leave this place?
<<---->>
I am the flower upon your grave
I will grow powerful, strong, and brave
And when it's time for me to wilt
When I return to ash and silt
I'll let the rains wash over me
Down through the roots of our family tree
only bones to be
remaining me
<<--->>
Spirits united
strong and free
flower gone
family–we.
